A-FRAME UNITS:  Scolta, Shangri-La, Sunnyside, Hi-Hike & West Wind
When most camps were designed, campers came to camp for a wilderness experience – the hardy pioneer was the model, and housing units were small tents or cabins set back in the woods to give kids a sense of being in the wilderness.  Camp Piperwood offers several camp sites for girls looking for this type of camping experience.

We also know that today’s campers are (on average) younger, and they come to camp to have a good time with their friends.  Our new units are designed for younger girls and for social experiences.  The cabins are grouped together and connected by decks to define a children’s village.  The decks are large, providing a place to socialize, enjoy the sun, and play games.  The beds are stationary platforms with mattresses, and large enough for stuffed animals, a flashlight, and other small personal belongings that give a girl a sense of comfort and security.  The cabins are hard-roofed, giving the girls an additional feeling of protection in case of stormy weather.  Both units are designed to fit into a slope, so the girls have different views and perspectives from the front and back of their cabins.  (The front opens out to a common area, with a fire pit.  From the back, girls have the feeling of being in the treetops!)  All of the units are barrier free, so girls in wheel chairs can visit their friends in any of the cabins within the group.  Additionally, the leader’s cabin is designed with a porch so leaders can watch over the girls without being invasive.  The interior of the leader’s cabin has electricity and an extra bed, enabling the leader to take care of a girl who might get sick or homesick during the night.
Both sites have 4 standard A-Frames connected by a deck and accomodate up to 16 girls and 4 adults.
Hi-Hike and Westwind A-Frame interiors contain built-in beds instead of cots.
The separate leaders' tent.
Leaders’ tent sleeps four and is equipped with multiple electric outlets and ceiling lights.
Platform style tents sleep 4 and may be found in the Lakeside and Shadowdell units.
